EVEN_UP Project: Empowering Communities with Sustainable Mobility

The EVEN-UP Project is dedicated to advancing transportation equity and sustainability in Sacramento County's Justice40 regions. By engaging residents and businesses in 6-8 marginalized neighborhoods, the project aims to collaboratively identify the benefits of electric vehicle (EV) charging and establish neighborhood sites for mobility hubs. Through this process, the project seeks to address transportation needs, promote environmental health, and support community priorities.

Objectives

The project focuses on:

  • Engaging communities to define the benefits of EV charging stations.
  • Creating Community-Driven EV Charger Deployment Plans for 6-8 neighborhoods.
  • Installing EV charging stations at sites in at least five neighborhoods.
  • Sharing strategies and resources to enable other communities to replicate this approach.

Project Activities

  • Engagement: Foster partnerships, conduct outreach, and develop plans that prioritize equity and community needs.
  • Installation: Secure site commitments, install EV chargers, and share insights on successful deployment.
  • Operation: Operate and monitor EV chargers, collect equity metrics, and provide technical assistance to other communities.

The EVEN-UP Project aims to create scalable solutions for sustainable mobility while empowering local communities to take the lead in shaping their transportation future.
